Using the Colour Changer

Chapter 1: Introduction

For many people prolonged viewing of a computer screen can result in eyestrain. Symptoms such as dry, red, tired eyes and headaches can often occur especially if the visual ergonomics of the display are not comfortable.

This is also true for users with a visual impairment who might also have the added difficulty of distinguishing text shown with certain colour combinations. The importance of selecting screen colours that are comfortable to the eye, simply put, will bring about a healthier happier working environment, guaranteeing improved productivity.

To help tackle this Lunar, LunarPlus and Supernova offer image smoothing, focus highlighting and the colour changer. The colour changer can be used to adjust the visual display by configuring the colour settings to a scheme or tint level that ensures comfortable viewing. In this tutorial we will go through the steps to select a predefined scheme and explain the controls that are encountered when creating a personal custom scheme.

Note: image smoothing is the process of removing the jagged edges from the square pixels as the screen becomes increasingly magnified. Focus highlighting provides a mechanism to easily identify the current focus position.
