Do screen readers read out everything on the screen?

This depends entirely on you. You can tailor the screen reader to decide exactly what you want to hear. Whether it’s just enough so you can identify what your next move will be. The screen reader will inform you of what you have typed so if needs be you can add more or if a box appears.
