Meet Maggie McCarthy

Image of Maggie McCarthyMaggie joined Dolphin at their Worcester offices in September 2010, after having spent twenty years living in New Zealand. She began in a general sales role, but soon developed her role in helping promote the use of accessible learning materials in schools across the UK. Having taught English & Media for ten years, Maggie is very aware of the issues facing dyslexic learners and their educators:

"It’s very exciting to be able to offer such effective solutions for students, which are so easy for staff to produce".

It was Maggie’s interest in dyslexia which led her to become involved in pastoral care, ‘And you can’t work in pastoral care for nine years and fail to make the link between classroom behaviour and learning needs!’ Maggie is a self-confessed zealot of the Accessible Resources Pilot Project and says you only have to look at the project outcomes to know that "every school should provide accessible resources!"

When she’s not expounding the merits of accessible documents, Maggie loves to read, travel, garden and plan adventures with her family. She can’t wait to go up in one of the colourful hot-air balloons she so often sees on the Worcester horizon at sunrise.
