Download, unzip and read NLS books

Dolphin Guide supports US users to download books from the National Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), a division of the Library of Congress. Dolphin Guide can download the digital books available from the NLS BARD service (Braille & Audio Reading Download) and unzip them, allowing them to be easily transferred to your chosen portable book player.

As easy as 1, 2, 3...

  1. Use Guide to visit the NLS website, login using your subscription e-mail address and password.  Select and download the book you wish to read.

  2. Guide automatically saves the file to "My Documents".  The download may take a few minutes depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the book, however Guide keeps you informed about the download progress and when it is complete.
  3. Guide then has a new "Transfer NLS book" menu option where you can find your new book and simply move it to your DAISY hardware player.  Your new book is now ready to read!

Please note: this feature is only available to users of US English translations of Dolphin Guide.
